BEHIND THE WORK: LAURA'S STORY

Laura and Family - Summer 2023

MEET THE EXPERT: LAURA

For over 25 years, Laura Wexler has been a dedicated advocate and guide in the world of education. She’s worked tirelessly to support children and families through challenges and triumphs, offering guidance, coaching, and a deep understanding of diverse learning needs. With her extensive experience in teaching and helping students of all ages, Laura excels in creating customized strategies that empower families to achieve greater success and peace of mind.

Laura has years of experience with reading, writing, and explaining Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs),  in tailoring solutions that work for each child—whether it's developing strategies for social interactions, creating home schedules, or offering advice on navigating the school system. She’s also shared her knowledge by presenting on topics like behavioral strategies and time management to educators, helping the teaching community better support all types of learners.

Laura lives in Williamsville, NY with her husband, Scott, and their bulldog, Lou. A proud “empty nester,” she has a son, Zachary, who recently graduated from college, and a daughter, Lyssa, who is spending her junior year studying abroad. Laura enjoys traveling, cheering on the Buffalo Bills, all things Disney, and giving back to her community.

Laura co-founded Totes of Love with Karen Meltser, supporting the Family Justice Center of Erie County by providing over 400 essential-needs bags last year to clients escaping domestic abuse.

She also serves on the board of Abbie’s Angels, a 501(c)(3) supporting caregivers of neurodivergent children with life-threatening medical conditions through compassion, connection, and care.
